Silver Tarnish Experiment

I have seen pins on Pinterest with easy remove tarnish recipes.

So I started with some Silver pieces I found while organizing my cold storage. Some of them look soooo bad I hope this works!
First, one pinner stated the tinfoil must touch the Silver, so I left one of the items out in the bath. You will see it soon.
Starting with this fun one...I wrapped the tinfoil around it.

Below is the great results. This piece had the least amount of tarnish and it did turn out the best. There was a light film on the Silver after i removed it from the foil, but I rubbed it with a dish towel and it shined right up! (more direction and pictures below)
The tinfoil  to the right is black

Boil enough water to cover the items you have in your sink, add the Baking soda to the water. I used a large box of Baking Soda (amazing stuff) for this.

Oh yes, it worked! How much you ask? Holy, holy cow, so much better than I thought! If you look to the left, lower corner of the last photo you can see an unused piece of tinfoil and the rest of the tinfoil (black and blue) are the pieces of tinfoil I wrapped around the Silver pieces. The creamer was not wrapped in foil and it made a huge difference, it hardly changed the tarnish at all (2nd to last photo). I did rub these lightly with a towel. I will need to use a tarnish remover on a couple of spots to get the rest of the traces off, but it has saved me a lot of elbow grease!

Thanks for stopping by!
